I am just beginning to put together some mentalism routines, and I wouldn't be without it! With this you can do great things!
So go on be like the boss of men and wow friends! While most other UK magic shops hide what happens behind the scenes, we want you to know exactly how things work.
This way you avoid expensive international shipping fees and taxes. We keep our most popular products in stock in the UK so often this step is skipped.
My only complaint is that the print is very very small. The positive is that left more room for more material! Very important education Report this review Pro Privacy ON login to see reviewer names on September 28th, Just like Practical Mental Effects, the writing in this book is dated, but the concepts can all be modernized and improved upon.
The point is to get a solid grounding in the basic ideas of mentalism, and that is what you get with 13 Steps. Each step offers loads of information on beginning in different facets of mentalism. Some stuff you will never use in a million years, other stuff you will use immediately.
To be honest, I use more tricks from Practical Mental Magic than 13 Steps, but this book taught me more about how mentalism works, which is extremely important if you want to take those skills further.
Great classic work! While mnemonic techniques are familiar to a large percentage of the public, it is in their covert applications that they are such a powerful and essential tools.
The best way to accomplish something is almost invariably the simplest and most direct. You will not need to apply an intermediate calculation to arrive at the proper position. Of course, you can just stand there and stare up in the air for a second while everyone wonders if you are having a stroke, thus adding some unexpected drama to your act.
Or you can come to the realization that the hard way is actually the easy way. And besides, the calculation stack is a one trick pony. When you learn to memorize a deck of cards you automatically learn to memorize just about anything else.
By the time you are ten pages into the book you will be amazed at just how easy mnemonics can be. All you have to do is try it. Believe me, it is far easier than learning to do a good double lift. Theater of the Mind is the perfect example of how presentation and careful preparation are the heart and soul of effective mentalism.
The principles described cover all of the magic arts in addition to mentalism. Probably every psychological and mental technique ever devised can be found somewhere in this painstakingly assembled work. This is not a book that will be of much use to the beginner, but for the writer, researcher, creator, and experienced performer, it is a gold mine of information and an excellent source book.
The first was my Pseudomentally Yours in As far as I know, these were the only two such supplements Raven published. He must have published quite a few of them, though, because they appear to be readily available. There is a lot more in the book that is of great value to the psychic entertainer who is contemplating a new publicity campaign.
Much of the material is not available elsewhere.
