Kelly is almost complete in explaining all the work process of electric machines, giving special attention to losses due the magnetic cores and to the use of analog computers for the computation of machines parameters, a technic that, in spite of being obsolete nowadays, is useful because it helps the reader to understand deeper the contents. The book also shows modern control theory applied to the machine dynamics, exploring with detail the space state representation.

Other special characteristic of this book is the mathematical rigour. It demonstrates practically everything that is exposed, including the analytical computation of Eddy-current loss, matter that I haven't seen in any other book.

This book's only weak point its lack in showing practical situations with machines.
