The premise is fresh and the style works for the book. I am only docking one star because the printers themselves Dark Horse, ruined the double page splash when one prominent character is introduced. Her torso and waist are stuck within the spine of the book and cut off in the bleed of the page which is a shame for such a wonderfully planned establishing shot. Other than that the book is great.
No step reading this and go read that. You need better time management. Kindle Edition Verified download. Okay, I have to admit, although I've prided myself in the past for being able to predict the twists of a plot well before the big revealing, this plot did an amazing job at surprising me!
I've read them all I seriously did not see a single twist in the plot before it was uncovered! I think it's because Mark gets the reader focused on the main character and the situation at hand, and so attention is drawn away from other "hints" and subplots until the time is right.
Artwork is fantastic.
He's especially good at creating a setting, which is uncommon in manga in my opinion. The city reminds me of Milan, and you'll know what I mean if you've ever been to Milan the not Duomo part of Milan.
Characters are genuine and complicated, not generic at all. The comedy is indirect, but really funny!
Not exactly side-splitting, but enough to add some humor into a great mystery. One person found this helpful. I originally downloadd this book just to help support the author's Youtube channel.
However, once I started reading, I was immediately drawn in and hooked on the story and characters.
I really enjoyed the art style, and I felt that it was a perfect compliment to the type of story being told. Often times, when watching anime or reading manga, I get a little lost. I suspect this has a lot to do with cultural differences and Eastern versus Western story-telling styles.
Brody's Ghost was, at least to me, the perfect combination of the two cultural styles. Redemption, character arcs, and compelling motives - all present. Thank you, Mark, for an engaging read and wonderful art!
Mark Crilley has a broad imagination, and the stories have no similarities. Regardless, the art remains fantastic and the story is just as if not more so engaging as the story of his last series. It's a short read, but it felt well-developed and it's definitely worth it for the price. The characters are intriguing, and I'm already anticipating the sequel!
I would check it out. I am familiar with the author Mark Crilley from reading Akiko books, and while previewing Miki Falls on site, I came across this. And as expected of a good author like Mark Crilley, he did a real good job with one, full of action, suspense, and a great casts of characters. This story follows a man named Brody, who is somewhat a slacker, and his encounter with a teenage ghost girl Talia, who needs Brody's help to find the murderous penny killer so that she can go to heaven.
I think this book is a step-up of Mark Crilley's work and I rather enjoyed it. I should probably get some more volumes of this here and see how the whole story turns out.
The story is a bit rushed but it's ok. It gave me an anime feel and at the same time those old good western vibes. Maybe that's what you get when the writer is someone from the west and is an anime fan. Great job and great art and look. Look forward to reading all the volumes. Go Mark Crilley! I love this book!
The art is absolutely stunning, and the story captures you from the very first page which almost NEVER happens with me! Thank you Mark for being creative!
